Hi,
I am new to birding and wonder whether there are any clubs/groups to join in Wellington area?

Hi Vic
On the links page you will find a link to the OSNZ. Follow that and you should be able to find contact info for the Wellington branch.

Re: Birdwatching Wellington
Hi Vic (& Welcome!),
As Neil said, joining the Wellington Branch of OSNZ is your best bet. The group includes a great, friendly bunch of active birders/ornithologists with a number of regional projects on the go. Meetings are on the first Monday evening of each month at Te Papa's collections building on Tory St (details on the OSNZ website).
There are a number of active birders in the region who are either not OSNZ members or prefer not to attend meetings regularly - this forum tends to be the main way this wider group keeps in touch & shares information. A small minority of local birders also submit their bird observations to eBird (http://ebird.org/content/newzealand/), and using the "explore a location" function under the "explore data" tab on this website is a good way of keeping up with who is seeing what and where (do a search for "Wellington Region", then click on "recent visits" on the right-hand side of the page).
Regards,
Nikki
