They are indeed George! We've been hoping he'll return, no joy so far.

Late post, but last Sat at 2.30pm some very angry falcon calls as a male tried to move a Hawk along. They were up high and the Hawk wasn't too worried by the grumpy falcon. On Thursday this week a falcon was near the train lines heading into Petone where a falcon was seen in a tree before bee lining up the bush towards towards Manuangarki, this was at about 4.20pm.

Great stuff, the attack on the harrier would tend to indicate possible nesting.
At least your falcon haven't moved to town and scratched a jogger and attacked a dog!
Had a report in for 27 Sep of two seen in 'courtship' behavior over the hill in Takapu Valley, so it is all go in Wellington!
Thanks for posting

Happy to report early evening yesterday we heard and saw two Falcons (male and female) in a thermal over the bush behind our house. We’ve heard them intermittently over the past couple of weeks, but this was the first sighting for the new year.

This might be one of them. We’ve seen them regularly over the time we’ve been living up here. Even a courtship display in our backyard a few years ago. Great to hear there are more breeding. We went for a scout the summer before last given some of the aggression we’d been seeing. But came away without having been attacked, guess we didn’t find the pozzie.

Spent 17-21 Jan visiting family at Maungaraki and saw at least one falcon each day, cruising across the valley over Dowse Drive. Great to see!

That makes sense Paul, we generally (if about) will see them regularly. Over the last week, we've seen Tui giving them a bit of a run for their money early evening, falcon was flying quite low and very easy to see.
