Superb parrot, Whatawhata, Hamilton

Post by Neil Fitzgerald »

Saw what I think was a superb parrot this morning between Whatawhata and Hamilton. Looked lost so may have escaped from nearby. I first heard an unusual parrot call which made me look. Then it flew a few circuits and I noticed the very long tail and shape generally like a ring-neck, however it had a yellow face with a patch of orange beneath the bill and otherwise all vivid green. Got some far from superb phone photos.
