Arctic tern at Bluff

Post by Brent Stephenson »

Hi all,
Brilliant few days on tour around the West Coast and Fiordland, with falcon, yellowhead, Fiordland crested penguin, rock wren and blue duck with ducklings. See my blog for details.

We just arrived at Bluff to cross to Stewart Island and found an ARCTIC TERN in amongst the feeding white-fronted tern just along from the ferry terminal in Bluff. Easy to pick amongst the white-fronteds.

Cheers,
Brent Stephenson

Who is banding the Rockwren down there? Was that part of the DNA study from a while back?

Here are some photos of the Arctic tern seen at Bluff - sorry these have taken a while - I realise some people were interested in seeing images.
