Mahia Pelagic

Post by tim »

Adam and I went out for a scout to see what a Mahia Pelagic could be like, we got out as far as 10km off Portland Island in 2meter + swell.
We were only in 70 meter deep water and were planning on 600+ if the sea swell wasn't to rough.
So not too bad with 6 confirmed albatross and 2 possibles plus there could have been more if we went further out.

Northern Royal Albatross x 2
Southern Royal Albatross x 3
NZ White Capped Albatross x 20+
Possible Salvins Albatross Juvenile x 1
Black Browed Albatross x 2
Bullers Albatross x 2
Wandering Albatross x 2
Possible Snowy Albatross x 1
Diving petrel x 10
Northern Giant Petrel x 2
Gannet x 3
White Fronted Tern x 2
Black Backed Gull x 4
Prion possible fairy
Cape Petrel x 50+
