Whiteheads, Te Kauri Park

I arrived at Te Kauri Park (Scenic Reserve, on the road to Kawhia) this morning to take a group of young Junats (Junior Naturalists) bird counting. Within minutes of arriving I heard then saw 4 whiteheads right next to the Lodge. According to some of the slightly older Junats they haven't been seen there for 40 years, and I certainly haven't come across them in the past few.

Great to hear. I'm pretty sure I heard a single whitehead on the kauri grove track back in 2013.
