NZ Falcon - Whakatane

Post by erikforsyth »

Hi all

added a new bird to my garden list in the form of a male NZ Falcon. I was first alerted by the calls of Common Myna, screeching outside and then a Tui and several Welcome Swallows. Then suddenly, the falcon appeared and did two laps over the garden before settling in an open tree nearby. Several Tui's buzzed over but the falcon was not fazed. Amazingly it sat there for a further 20 minutes.

Best wishes
