What have been the top 20 threads on BirdingNZ?

Postby andrewcrossland » Thu Jan 03, 2019 8:18 am

A question for Neil, Brent, etc? I see the Napier Whistling Ducks thread has had over 40,000 views so it would be interesting to know what the top top 20 threads have been over the life of BirdingNZ? I'm assuming that Pelicans and Laughing Gulls are right up there? Also, interesting would be know who the most prolific posters have been over that time?
Is it possible to provide a brief review of some of the stats?
cheers

Hi Andrew,
below the list of topics there is a filter that you can use to sort all topics by the number of views. Similarly, if you log in you can sort the list of members by the number of their posts.
Cheers

Thanks for suggesting this Andrew. I have often thought I should do a tally up, but wasn't sure it would interest anyone but me.
BirdingNZ.net continues to grow by many metrics. Lately the fatbirder ranking has us consistently in the top 40 birding sites, which I think is pretty amazing. Over the last 30 days the site had 57589 pageviews and 3597 users (according to Google). Annually, we continue to get well over half a million page views and users are up 13% on the year before.

The threads you highlight by views are interesting. They show that some of the most viewed threads have relatively few posts, and it's pretty easy to see why - there are some key phrases like "climate change", "unknown bird sound", and "Stephen Fry Sirocco" that are going to do well in organic search results (e.g. on Google).
Things get shuffled a little if we look at ranking by number of reply posts:
