There has now been a sign erected at the turning from Shelly Beach Road up onto the bank saying "no unauthorised entry". This will cause a parking problem as there is very little space on Shelly Beach Road to park safely. Not sure about access for bicycles.

Re: Piako Flood Plain (Shelly Beach Road)
I see the Hauraki Rail Trail site says:
Possibly this is the section it's talking about, in which case it may be only temporary?
12 February 2019: Please be advised part of the trail between Kopu and Pipiroa will be inaccessible for a period of 3 - 4 weeks (25 February - 25 March 2019). A diversion has been put in place to get cyclists around this safely. Please follow all instructions. Thank you.

Re: Piako Flood Plain (Shelly Beach Road)
Thanks very much David. I had not thought of looking there, and thought it may be cyclists had complained about the track being blocked by cars. Thanks to your detective work, we now know it is temporary.
