Vanuatu petrel and 'magnificent' petrel

A recent posting on the Te Papa website regarding Pterodroma occulta and P. brevipes magnificens from Vanua Lava might be of interest: http://blog.tepapa.govt.nz/category/birds/

Very cool Colin,
Thanks for sharing. Do you have further details on the 'Magnificent' petrel? Further photos or references would be great. Be keen to get your thoughts on the photo of our collared off the Three Kings/Far North (now uploaded to viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1091), and I will also forward you the copy of the BARC submission outlining details of the first Australian records of collared petrel. I scooped Phil Hansbro by 27 days to get the first record for Australia (off Norfolk Island on 4 Mar 2007), with my bird being a dark phase.
Keep up the good work,
Brent
