Great birding areas in Northland (Far North)

Postby hdbbird » Wed May 17, 2023 7:59 am

Hi everyone,

I hope you are all well. I am in the Far North close to Lake Ohia on the Karikari peninsula. I usually use ebird to find good birding hotspots but am having difficulty finding good areas to see birds within an hour's drive.

If anyone familiar with the area or some resources could point me to some great spots, I would be very grateful.

Cheers!

eBird is still your best friend. Any of the hotspots are worth checking. L. Ngatu might still have the recent Whiskered Tern. If you get the chance Spirits Bay is really nice and you never know what you might find.

Thanks Bobolink, appreciate it! We loved spirits bay.
