World Albatross Day - Te Rā O Ngā Toroa 2023

Postby Michael Szabo » Mon Jun 19, 2023 8:41 am

Today is World Albatross Day - Te Rā O Ngā Toroa 2023
This year's theme is 'Plastic Pollution', which kills up to 1 million seabirds a year according to the UN Ocean Conference (2018).
This is an issue that Birds New Zealand is well aware of. The 2022 Birds New Zealand Research Fund awarded a grant to help fund new NZ research on the growing problem of plastic pollution killing seabirds, and there were presentations about this issue at the recent annual conference held in New Plymouth.
