Bill colour and face pattern favour Grey Duck. Anterior speculum stripe and orange legs indicate hybrid ancestry.

https://ebird.org/checklist/S145536142

"Hybrid grey x mallard ducks are confusingly variable in most characteristics and otherwise “good” grey ducks need to be examined closely for any indication of anterior speculum stripe (alar bar) on wing (white or fawn, narrow or wide…if it is visible it is probably of hybrid ancestry), hints of orange on legs, and “dirty” cream face with indistinct edges to the facial stripes."

26 North Island Kokako, 1 Reef Heron and 4 Turkey, Although I'm not sure about the latter, they may be a regular near there. Seen Just south of Huntly.

Turkey is not unexpected, the heron will be white-faced… Not quite sure about the kōkako but the comment is interesting!

The observer is described as from Washington State - not well-known for its kokako.

My guess would be Pukeko - it's a similar-enough name to Kokako and that number being seen in fields sounds right.

Saw this report of a Mute Swan in the Far North - https://ebird.org/checklist/S153847515.

I went for a look today - no Swan, but there was a single (pure white) Greylag Goose hanging out in the paddock. No significant water bodies there either, apart from a small creek, so assuming this Goose may be the Swan?

Chukar, etc offshore on a Kaikoura Albatross Encounter on 9th December 2010. The observer has lumped inland and offshore sightings together.
