i have come to your forum with a conundrum. I can hear a bird . I lone single bird that is calling without any reply . Its a call i have not heard before . It sounds as a lonely mournfull sound and i wonder if the animal is in distress , yet i cant find it or see it .
Does the forum have ways to listen to a recording and maybe identify the bird ?

I don't recognise the call, but given the (Hastings) location, I wonder if it is rose-ringed parakeet?

This sounds quite like one of the white-tailed black-cockatoos, most like Carnaby's.
It is presumably an escaped cage bird.

Coould well be worth sending that recording an an Australian expert. Not sure how to find one thgou. I lived in Perth for a year and saw some Carnabys in the wild a few times when adventuring out of town. It sounds very similar to one.
