Thanks for the updates all. Just for anyone else planning to go, are all of these sightings coming from a similar area? The east side of the estuary?
Cheers,
Russ

It would be interesting to know if the black tails, Hudsonians and greenshank involve some or all of the same individuals of these three species that have appeared either very briefly, or for longer periods, at lake ellesmere this past summer?

Hi Russ
while all the birds have been seen at the main roost near the town the Greenshank, Black stilts and godwitts tend to be at the island roosts at the Northern end of the estuary more often than not. The islands can be seen from the cemetery but not well, otherwise only accessible by boat or swimming.

Hi all,
Had to deal with persistent rain and heavy fog but I did manage a few quick scans of the Riverton estuary on Wed and Thursday. GT Tattler still present and showed well near town (in breeding plumage now) along with around 70 godwits (just Bar-tails). No sign of other rarities but never checked the more northerly spots at high tide with much time. Also had a flock of close to 50 turnstone along with more regular water birds.
Cheers,
Russ
