Heard a single bird this morning (Pukerua Bay) - but that is the first I've heard for a week or two.

Cheers

Hi Ian,
They are still giving the full song here in Pleasant Valley, just outside Geraldine.

Cheers,

Watched one being fed by grey warblers yesterday. At home, south of Pirongia.

I head one 2 days ago in Palmerston North but had not heard any in the previous weeks around the same area. They certainly have gone quiet.

I was at Te Miro today (Waikato, between Cambridge and Matamata), happened to look up and there was a shining cuckoo in the tree above me. It never made a peep, though there was a grey warbler calling nearby. Haven't heard one in weeks.

Saw two Shining Cuckoo at Grovetown Lagoons near Blenheim in January on separate days both perched on dead willow trees. Did manage to get a reasonable photo of each bird with Tele lens.

Just saw one in kowhai tree in the garden. First one seen or heard since late Jan when my son picked up a stunned one under a window (released shortly after).

No calls but it is hanging around lots today. Has flown into the same window twice. Gently, fortunately. :?

This bird is still showing really well in the garden as searches for kowhai caterpillars. Sitting 2m from me right now.
