Northern Shoveler and New Zealand Dabchick, Pegasus Wetlands

A yearly reoccuring Northern Shoveler and a New Zealand Dabchick last seen in 2020 have been seen at the northern end of the Pegasus Wetlands over the past couple of weeks.
133 birds on my life list since 17 June 2020, latest bird Common Tern.
93 birds on my 2024 year list as of 6:50pm 13 January, latest bird Indian Peafowl.

The Northern Shoveler was there today just before 3pm, about 500 to 700m up the track from the bridge between Pegasus Lake and Pegasus Wetland, in with about 30 Aus Shov

hi guys i saw the northern shoveler today and also photographed the grebe cannot identify it.

Micah forgot to add that the grebe was seen at the northernmost pond and the shoveler in the middle pond.

Alan Tennyson reports via eBird that the Northern Shoveler is still present this morning plus 2 Gt Crested Grebes:

Yes, it's been at the same spot feeding with other shovelers for some time now, and there are quite a few Great Crested Grebes present at Lake Pegasus.

Alan said he had the two at the wetland and three more on Lake Pegasus.

Thanks Oscar - Waimakariri District Council, Chch City Council and Selwyn District Council did a lowland central Canterbury sub-regional census of grebes, scaup and coot last week so I’ll double check that those 5 crested grebes were picked up.
