I heard my first Shining Cuckoo yesterday on Lillburne Rd in the Hunuas. At our BirdsNZ meeting on Tuesday a couple of people had heard them in the last week but most not yet. Heard a few Kokako but only one of them sang a bit, some Clematis out and Harriers sky dancing. Have been stuck indoors for a while so good to see some signs of Spring

Just heard first definite cuckoo for the season here south of Pirongia (thought I heard a single call last weekend but didn't repeat and couldn't be sure).

All the best,

I heard and saw one calling around Lake Rotoroa (Hamilton) and a work colleague saw a long tailed cuckoo in his Hamilton garden in the weekend.

Heard for the first time this year from trees at the end of Mainston road in Remuera. This is the first we have heard in this part of AK. Trina Smith reported one out west at the Oakley Creek Walkway three days ago.
