Galah at Banks Peninsula?

My husband and I recently travelled to Magnet Bay on Banks Peninsula on 25 Jan. While there an English traveler, seeing my binoculars, asked what was the pink bird she had seen while driving down into the bay. She said it was pink, sitting in a tree with an upright posture, approx 250 mm long and had a top knot, her initial thought was that it was a piece of rubbish until it moved. The sighting was the previous day between 6 and 7pm on 24 Jan 2024. I travelled the road 3 more times after this but no sightings... Open to suggestions about what this might have been (perhaps a pet bird).
