A possible nankeen kestrel has been reported in the Lindis Pass by an Australian birder. More info at the link below.

Spent a bit of time at the kestrel spot last night and this morning. Would be like a needle in a haystack, only birds around were finches, skylarks, harriers, lapwings and magpies.

The other confusion to consider is black-fronted terns hovering over grassland. Dead ringers for kestrels at a distance when you’re not expecting a tern in such waterless habitat.
