Dunnock with a white eye ring

Postby andrewcrossland » Thu Apr 18, 2024 11:09 pm

Hi team, I can't say I remember seeing a Dunnock with a white eye ring like this before. Photographed today at the CHCH Botanical Gardens. Have others come across Dunnocks elsewhere like this?

That is interesting. At first glance you would think mite damage, but it does look like white feathers, as with silvereye. Might be a mild sort of leucism, whatever that is. Hardly think they hybridise with zosterops?
