Identification help please

Postby jfmbirds » Tue Oct 01, 2019 9:34 pm

My first post , been a follower for a year or two .Mainly a photographer , - keen on long walks with a long zoom .
Was down at Waimea Lagoons , Waikanae , Kapiti Coast - took photos of a big duck , not seen before , - with partner .
Not the Shoveller seen at Otaki ponds , - couldn't find anything similar .
White tuft on male head and breast marks on female are distinctive features .
Left about 6 pm , cold southerly , Royal Spoonbills just arriving .

Sorry to disappoint you, but these are domestic mallards, or the offspring of domestic x wild Mallard pairings.
