As I forgot to even answer last month's quiz (and would have got it wrong anyway...), I'll vote for Banded Dotterel aka Double-banded Plover immediately on this one!

Juvenile Banded Dotterel. Doesn't seem to be enough orange and legs too short for Mongolian Dotterel. Its got the brown back and dumpy look of a Banded Dotterel.

a Charadrius dotterel, my first thought was banded dotterel but the dark legs make me think instead that it must be...

Mongolian (lesser sand) dotterel C. mongolus

I keep thinking there must be a trick, but it looks just like a banded dotterel to me.
