I went down to Kirk's again this morning and saw 16 Gull-billed Terns. Quite an increase since last time I was there. Assuming these were included the same birds as I saw last time there has been a decrease in the amount of breeding plumage these birds are carrying, several in non-breeding plumage this time, only one with a fully black cap and most somewhere in between. Most unspring-like.

Also present were 230 Godwits, 10 Knots, 3 Wrybill, 3 Caspian Terns.

I went down today, heading out onto the mudflats as the tide was a couple of hours past high, and there were 13 GB Terns on the mud, and I had already seen 2 head upstream and land among the mangroves so there were at least 15, and may have been more. However the wind was howling across and it was difficult to stand yet alone study, so I quickly headed for home. They looked settled though.

There's no way I'm going today. It snowed. These are the terns I saw on Saturday, not that anyone seems to be doubting me.
