Although I will say it is easier easier to find observations that include habitat and behavior on eBird

Re: eBird V iNat (ex Kaka kura thread)
I think the main point is that eBird and iNat are different from each other with different approaches and objectives. They are not mutually exclusive and I'm sure there are a lot of people using both, which is great.
I also think that there should be no place for ageism here. Older people have breadth of knowledge and experience built over time. Younger people have brains that absorb information at a remarkable rate and having platforms where they can use and enhance their skills is so important for the future, both individually and collectively.
The most important thing is to encourage participation wherever and at whatever level people are comfortable with. When newcomers receive a negative response, or see negativity directed at others, they are likely to go away, which is sad.
To come back to the first question from the kaka posting ... "what is wrong with eBird?" ... the answer is probably "Nothing". The person making the posting may not even know that it exists. At least they posted the sighting where it was seen and shared.

let's hope one day someone has the time to put the I-naturalist bird records on ebird, and also vet out the ID errors as the result would be a pretty powerful combined database.

Ebird data and research-grade iNaturalist records both get shared with the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF). So it's already possible to download a combined eBird/iNaturalist dataset by using the GBIF website.

Yup. GBIF is where to go for aggregated data (including museum specimens and other collections) if you have the tools to work with it. I personally find it a real chore getting data out of ebird compared to iNat. Pros and cons and horses for courses.
And thank you Raewyn. I agree.

Evidently I don't absorb information nearly fast enough for some people here, so I'll go back to my little burrow and hibernate a bit longer, til I pass away from neglect.....
