Unidentified bird call at dusk - Marlborough Sounds

Hey all,

We heard this bird calling from the trees while the sun was almost down, near Waikawa. I hadn't heard it before, first instinct was to check Ruru calls but that doesn't seem it.

That is a weka, smeerkat. It won't be calling from the trees, though.

Thanks, that's it! Must have been up a hillside where the trees grew, not in the tree itself. Mystery solved
