Many, many moons ago , Phil Battley and I had a pretty awesome day on that beach and creek mouths, picking up a number of interesting birds. While there we met a fella who reckoned Green turtles have come ashore and laid eggs on that beach. He was a pretty big local Māori fella and he knew a lot about the history of the place so we weren’t gonna argue with him, but I’ve always wondered if there’s something in that story?
