Eastern Rosella Pair in Ngaio

Post by Ramjet99 »

I looked out my window this morning (fringe of Trelissick Park, Ngaio) to see a couple of what apperared to be juvenille Crimson Rosella (see last post for image and correction)

as per photo on this page of the juvenilles.

Quite a surprise - anyone else seen them around?

I'm also in Ngaio and I've seen plenty of Eastern Rosella in the area. Karori Cemetery, Otari-Wilton Bush, Riflerange Rd Ohariu Valley, Tinakori Hill, Botanic Gardens, etc. I'll keep an eye out.

Hi, on Saturday morning I saw a Rosella (first thought it was a Lorikeet) on neighbour's apple tree. A Tui tried hard to deter it by flying around it. Then joined by another and there was a third on a flax bush higher up. I live in Island Bay on the hill above the shops and thought they must have just escaped until I talked to people from Wilton who had seen them.
