With the start of voting in the NZ competition next Monday, voting is already open in South Africa's version of Bird of the Year.

Bearded Vulture is currently in hot competition with Botha's Lark.

Thanks Nick, just wanted to say I enjoyed voting on this one and appreciated you sharing the link.

Contention is now between Black Harrier and Botha's Lark, and I must admit I couldn't resist voting for the magnificent Black Harrier. Not to speak ill or our New Zealand and Australian Swamp Harrier, but that Black Harrier is a very handsome bird!
