Visiting from Canada

Post by guerilla »

Hi everyone
I'll be visiting Auckland from March 18th-April 1st and hope to do a bunch of birding. I'm wondering if there are any organized outings I can join, or if anyone is interested in going birding with me. I'll be staying at the Auckland Botanic Garden.

I'm familiar with Tiritiri Matangi and the pelagic options, but I'm looking for some terrestrial birding in the City (and I'm looking to meet some fellow birders).

I'm 35 and coming from Canada. If anyone is interested, please let me know.
Thanks,
Greg

Spent a most pleasant Sunday morn along the Manukau walkway with Guerilla aka Greg. The birds behaved themsleves and showed-up at all the appropriate places apart from the Wrybills. Plenty of them on the shellbanks but none up close on land behind the mesh fence. Presumably one effect of the drought.

And at those shellbanks it rained Royal Spoonbills on cue not just once but twice. Afterwards we talk a jaunt down Island Road where Greg got to photograph a couple of Black-fronted Dotterel without the incovenience of having to get out of the car.

All in all, a most enjoyable morn.
