What bird is this - Hamilton

Hi all,

Just spotted this forum during some online bird research.. Hoping someone can help with bird ident

We have these birds that sit on our fence every day. We've become rather curious as to what they are, and I've done a lot of research online but can't seem to figure it out!

It's not the best photo, but maybe someone here can shed some light? We live in Hamilton, suburbs.

Any help much appreciated

Hi. Those are spotted doves. They are becoming more common in Hamilton. If you do a search on this site you should find several threads on them.

To elaborate, they are uncommon in New Zealand overall; they are patchily spread around the northern half of the North Island, but nowhere else.
